Cobar Shire Council is currently seeking to recruit two outstanding employees: a Services Manager to manage Council’s water supplies, sewerage scheme, Cobar Swimming Pool contract, parks and gardens, and town facilities within Cobar and the villages within the Shire and a Project Manager to oversee capital projects on a three-year contract in accordance with the projects schedule.

Regarded by many as the ‘capital of the accessible Outback’, Cobar is a modern, vibrant and diverse town with an enviable lifestyle and quality of life. Cobar Shire Council delivers a wide range of services to more than 5,000 residents across a region encompassing some 45,000 square kilometres. 
Cobar has recently been successful in obtaining funding to undertake a multi-million dollar project to relocate the town’s water treatment facility.  Further funding is currently being sourced to upgrade the town’s sewerage system, 130km of Cobar Water Board’s twin pipeline and Airport. 

The Services Manager will work within the Engineering Services Department and report directly to the Director of Engineering Services. The role will encompass the planning and management of water supplies and sewerage services, footpaths, street trees, street furniture, street cleaning, parks, gardens and sporting fields, public toilet cleaning, town and village cemeteries, television services and Cobar Swimming Pool. The Project Manager will also work within the Engineering Services Department providing project management and contract administration on a number of major projects, the first of which will be relocation of the town’s Water Treatment facility and soon after the commencement of this project, it is expected that the construction of upgrades at the town’s Sewerage System, upgrading of the Cobar Water Board twin pipeline system and upgrade of the Airport will commence. Applications for this position will close on Monday 24 February at 10am.
