Toilet paper in the pandemic: stick to the 3 P’s

With the community facing toilet paper shortages during the pandemic, some local water utilities are experiencing increased sewage system blockages due to use of materials such as wet wipes and paper towels. None of these alternatives are designed to break down in the sewage system like toilet paper.

Our blog recommends now is a good time for LWUs to remind customers that toilets are only designed to cope with the three Ps: pee, poo and paper (toilet paper). There are some useful examples of community education on this topic from MidCoast Council and Coffs Harbour City Council.
