Winner of the NSW Operator of the Year Announced
05 Apr 2012
This year we had a high level of interest in the Water Directorate
sponsored NSW Operator of the Year award. Ten excellent nominations were
submitted making it difficult for the judges to choose. However, the
Water Directorate is pleased to advise that Erwin Balsar. Water
Treatment Plant Operator, North Headworks, Shoalhaven Water was the
winner. Erwin, or Stumpy to his colleagues, was presented with a set of
trophies at the WIOA conference dinner last Thursday 29 March 2011.
Erwin is a long term employee of Shoalhaven Water
joining council in 1977. During his employment with Shoalhaven Water he
has operated the Bamarang, Flatrock and the Bendeela Water Treatment
Plants as well as numerous Satellite Chlorinators. His over-riding
passion during this time, however, has been the effective and efficient
maintenance and operation of the major Pump Station located at Burrier,
and the associated trunk mains and dams.
As the winner of the NSW Operator of the Year award,
Erwin Balsar will attend the WIOA Study tour to New Zealand in May
2012. Congratulations to Erwin on winning this award and for his
outstanding service to Shoalhaven over the past 35 years.
