Water Entitlement Management Guidelines published

11 Oct 2016

The Water Directorate’s latest publication Water Entitlement Management – Practical Guidelines for NSW Councils was distributed to members in September and is now available from the BookWater Entitlement Management - Practical Guidelines from NSW Councilsshop.

The Water Directorate commissioned Aither Pty Ltd. to prepare these guidelines to assist councils to more actively manage their water entitlement portfolios. Regional and rural councils are largely responsible for securing the future supply of urban water for their communities and it is therefore essential that councils are fully informed about water entitlement management and water trading.

The guidelines include a description of the regulatory framework for water management in NSW, as well as relevant background information and reasons why councils should actively manage their water entitlement portfolios. The guidelines include an active management framework which provides a useful basis for councils to manage their water security into the future.
