Submission to the Office of Local Government Review of Joint Organisations Emerging Directions Paper

26 Oct 2015

The Water Directorate made a submission on 16 October to the OLG Review of Joint Organisations Emerging  Directions Paper.

The Water Directorate's submission has identified a number of areas where the Joint Organisations Emerging Directions Paper can be improved. The submission included the following three recommendations:

  • Joint Organisations should be enabled to undertake regional water and sewerage planning where tangible benefits can be demonstrated.
  • Joint Organisations should be enabled to provide regional water and sewerage services where this is the most appropriate approach given the local conditions.
  • The on-going role of existing water corporations, water and/or sewerage county councils, water utility mandatory alliances and water utility informal alliances should be clarified in the Joint Organisations Working Framework Paper.
Thank you to the member councils who forwarded their comments for inclusion in this submission. Click here to view a copy of the submission or go to the members area to view all Water Directorate submissions.
