Putting your money where your Mo is

More than $2000 has been raised for men’s health research, via the upper lips of the Water Directorate’s Water Worriers team.

Despite having a hectic work load with the drought and fire emergencies, several Water Directorate Executive Committee members joined the Movember challenge and let their moustaches run wild during the month of November. Tracey Hamer (MidCoast Council) being one of two women on the Executive Committee is also participating via an alternate option of a November fitness challenge.

Check out the team page here to see a range of facial hair including the handlebar moustache chosen by Graham Kennett (Kyogle Council) or the 007 gentleman spy look sported by Brendan Guiney (Water Directorate). Wayne Beatty (Orange City Council), Graham Gordon (Griffith City Council) and Geoff Veneris (Goldenfields Water County Council) have also taken the Movember challenge and we thank them all for being such good sports.

It’s not too late to throw a few more dollars into the team’s fundraising pot. The money raised during Movember supports men’s physical and mental health issues including suicide prevention and research into prevention and treatment of prostate and testicular cancer.
