Putting LWUs in the national skills picture

06 Jun 2019
NSW Water Directorate Executive Committee members have been working hard to help NSW local water utilities build their capability by getting involved in national training standards.

Check out the 2 minute video (right) of Jason Ip, Manager Operations at Riverina Water County Council, who represented the Water Directorate at a Joint Industry Reference Committee (IRC) event in Melbourne on 9 May 2019 which discussed a range of workforce development policy issues, and spoke about regional water utility needs.

The event was hosted by Australian Industry Standards, a government non-for-profit organisation that develops skills standards across a range of Australian industries.

Jason has represented regional NSW on the national Water Industry Reference Committee (WIRC) since 2017 and has worked tirelessly to promote workforce development issues on behalf of regional NSW water utilities.

Jason sits on the NSW Water Directorate’s Professional Development subcommittee, which is chaired by David Oxenham of Tweed Shire Council with fellow subcommittee members Doug Moorby of Narromine Shire Council and Derek Finnegan of Muswellbrook Shire Council.
