Handling Asbestos Cement (AC) Pipe: new guidelines published

The latest Water Directorate publication Cutting, Handling and Disposal or Asbestos Cement (AC) Pipe Guidelines 2018 outlines recent changes to regulations and procedures for handling asbestos in the workplace. The Guidelines were first produced in 2003 and have been updated several times since then.

The 2018 edition features asbestos risks and hazards as well as legislation, regulations and protocols for working with AC pipes. The Guidelines summarise changes to asbestos handling that have arisen following Worksafe NSW’s 2016 review of asbestos codes of practice, as well as the review of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 (NSW).

A copy of the Guidelines has been sent to Water Directorate members and electronic versions can be downloaded free from the Members Area of the website. Non-members may purchase the guidelines from the Bookshop.
