Free resource efficiency guides for WWTPs and aquatic centres
10 Jul 2019
Three new guides to help councils implement resource efficiency projects at waste water treatment plants and aquatic centres have been produced by the former Office of Environment and Heritage (now Department of Planning, Industry and Environment). These are available for free download on the NSW Government website, via the links below.
Energy efficiency opportunities in wastewater treatment facilities
This guide will be helpful to all Water Directorate member councils, having the aim of helping LWUs to implement and maintain energy efficiency improvements in WWTP facilities. The guide provides information to help to reduce energy consumption and energy costs applicable for all types and sizes of WWTPs.
There are also two companion documents for aquatic centres:
Energy and water metering and monitoring guide for aquatic centres
This guide provides expert advice on measuring and monitoring water, electricity and gas usage for aquatic centres. It will help you identify the required data, choose a suitable metering arrangement, plan a metering and monitoring program, assign responsibilities to ensure action is taken, and identify opportunities to reduce energy and water costs.
Energy efficiency water heating technology guide for aquatic centres
This guide is for all those involved in managing water heating systems at aquatic centres and other facilities with heated pools, such as gymnasiums and recreation centres. It provides high-level guidance on commercially-proven, energy efficient and cost-effective practices and available technologies to help centre owners and operators reduce energy use and operating costs related to pool water heating.
