Founding father gets OAM

03 Mar 2017

Congratulations are due to one of the co-founders of the Water Directorate Stewart McLeod (pictured right), who received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2017 Australia Day Awards.

Stewart received the award for service to local government administration and the community of Dubbo. He recently retired as Director of Technical Services after 37 years with Dubbo Regional Council.

Stewart stepped down from the Water Directorate Executive Committee in 2016, having served continuously since he and his co-founders formed the Water Panel (as it then was) in 1998. Their commitment to establishing and promoting the Water Directorate directly generated the high level of NSW council membership that continues to this day.

Stewart is a consummate networker and no water-related meeting or conference was complete without his generous sharing of views, experience and advice.

The Water Directorate is delighted that Stewart’s huge contribution to the water industry across New South Wales has been recognised by this award.
