Finalised Land Matters Guidelines Published

14 Jun 2012
The Water Directorate is very pleased to have published in conjunction with the IPWEA (NSW) Roads & Transport Directorate the Land Matters Guidelines on behalf of our member councils. Initially released in October 2011, as a Stage 1 document, a finalised copy was sent to all members of the Water Directorate and the IPWEA (NSW) Roads & Transport Directorate last week.

The purpose of the Land Matters Guidelines is to provide a user-friendly, step-by-step guide to the compulsory acquisition process for the water and/or roads businesses in your council. The aim is to provide guidance as to whether it is necessary to proceed through a compulsory acquisition process as set out in the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991. Other options explored include creating an easement on land with consent of the owner, or agreeing to a private sale.

The Land Matters Guidelines was prepared by Maddocks under the direction and peer review of Policy Subcommittee of the Water Directorate and the Technical Subcommittee of the IPWEA (NSW) Roads & Transport Directorate.

If you are interested in purchasing an additional copy of the Land Matters Guidelines please download an order form and fax it back.
