Feedback from OzWater’12

Each year the Water Directorate and AWA proudly sponsor the Conference Attendance Award for young water industry professionals. This year, Luke Drury, Team Leader at Wyong Shire Council, won the Award and attended OzWater'12 in Sydney from 7-9 May 2012.

The purpose of the Conference Attendance Award is to assist a water industry professional from a regional NSW to attend the AWA's national water conference. Water industry professionals with up to 7 years working experience, including those in their final year of study, are eligible to nominate for this Award. The winner in 2012 received a full registration to OzWater gratis and was reimbursed up to $1,600 for travel expenses.

Luke attended the full three day program including the Young Professionals Breakfast and Gala Dinner. In addition he extensively toured the exhibition stands and talked to many of the suppliers. Luke has reported that from his visit to OzWater’12 he has “been able to bring back many different ideas that will improve the design and delivery of upcoming capital works projects currently planned for Wyong”.
