Dubbo Wins Award for Environmental Best Practice

06 Dec 2012
For the past three years the Water Directorate has sponsored the Environmental Best Practice Award for Local Water Utilities at the annual LGSA Environment Awards. The purpose of this award is to recognise best practice by local government water and sewer authorities in managing and protecting the environment. This year Dubbo City Council was worthy winner of this award at the awards ceremony held at Cockle Bay in Sydney on the 4th December.

Dubbo City Council has always sought to be proactive and progressive in its approach to environmental management. This is evidenced by Dubbo City Council leading the water industry in such areas as percentage of effluent reuse, overflow storages at sewage pump stations as standard practice, industry standard PRP 100 Sewer Overflow Investigation Reporting, early adoption of water loss management, early adoption of Sewerage Reticulation Hydraulic Modelling, and installation of Australia’s largest urban groundwater monitoring network.

Congratulations to Dubbo City Council for its outstanding environmental management and practices. More information about all of this year’s LGSA Environment Awards winners can be viewed on the LGSA’s website.

The Water Directorate will not be sponsoring this award in 2013 due to our other sponsorship commitments. We thank the LGSA for the excellent management of these awards over the past three years and we hope to see many of our members continue to nominate for environmental awards in the various categories.
