Dam Risks That Need to be Managed
20 Oct 2012
Last Friday we held a very successful workshop on Dam Safety Risk Management with 40 attendees including council staff, NSW Office of Water Representatives, industry associations, State Water and the presenters.
The workshop proved to be a valuable technical exercise and good feedback was received from the attendees. Thanks to Paul Heinrichs, Belinda Fayle, Wayne Beatty, Steve Palmer, Russell Deans and Murray Thompson for their very informative presentations. A copy of all the presentations is now available below.
At the conclusion of the workshop it was resolved that the Water Directorate would establish a Special Interest Dam Subcommittee for those members that have a particular interest in the maintenance and management of dams. Please contact
Gary Mitchell if you are keen to be part of this Subcommittee.
It was also resolved that the Executive Committee of the Water Directorate would consider undertaking the task of developing practical Dam Management Guidelines for members at our next meeting in November. Currently a second workshop is being planned for the north coast region and we keep members informed of the proposed date.
