Cobar Shire is Looking for a Services Manager
11 Dec 2013
Cobar Shire Council is actively recruiting a Services Manager to join its Engineering Services Department team. In this position you will have the opportunity to manage the Council’s water supplies, sewerage scheme, Cobar Swimming Pool contract, parks and gardens, and town facilities within Cobar and the villages within the Shire.
The salary range offered for this position is $90,250 to $104,475 per annum, plus superannuation. A commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience. Council works a 35 hour week based on a nine-day fortnight and conditions of employment are determined by the Local Government (State) Award. Assistance with relocation costs, subsidised accommodation and a leaseback vehicle is also available.
Regarded by many as the ‘capital of the accessible Outback’, Cobar is a modern, vibrant and diverse town with an enviable lifestyle and quality of life. The Shire Council delivers a wide range of services to more than 5,000 residents across a region encompassing some 45,000 square kilometres. Cobar boasts excellent school and TAFE facilities, an expanding retail sector, hospital and medical services and sporting facilities. It also offers a variety of activities for many interest groups that include arts, cultural and heritage organisations.
Cobar Shire Council’s location in far western New South Wales has led to its development in recent years as a regional centre, and Council actively promotes and develops this concept. The infrastructure development associated with several mining operations has challenged the Council, and ongoing mineral exploration and mining is anticipated to further increase these challenges. The Shire of Cobar also encompasses the villages of Euabalong, Euabalong West, Mt Hope, Nymagee, Canbelego and Murrin Bridge.
Selection criteria and information packages (including an application form) are available on Council’s website or by contacting the Cobar Shire Council on 02 6836 5888. For additional information, contact Council’s Director of Engineering Services Peter Graf on 02 6836 5888 or 0437 471 470. Applications on Council’s official application forms are to be forwarded to the General Manager, PO Box 223, Cobar 2835 or by email to mail@cobar.nsw.gov.au by 10am Thursday 18 December 2013.
