Building in the Vicinity of Sewer Mains Guidelines Released

30 May 2013

The Water Directorate is pleased to announce that our latest publication, Building in the Vicinity of Sewer Mains Guidelines, will be posted to the General Manager of all member councils next week. In addition, it is now available via the online library for members as well as for sale to non members in the the online bookshop.

The Building in the Vicinity of Sewer Mains Guidelines was developed by the Sewer Subcommittee members of the Water Directorate Executive Committee. The document is in two parts: Part 1 contains a review of existing building in the vicinity of sewer mains policies from nine LWUs and one water authority; and Part 2 develops a generic policy that can be used by an LWU as a guideline for developing their own policy.

The Water Directorate believes that the development of the Building in the Vicinity of Sewer Mains Guidelines will assist LWUs with the protection of existing and future sewer assets, both privately and corporately owned, from potential damage. These guidelines, however, are issued as best practice guidance for LWUs only. For more information please contact info@waterdirectorate.org.au.
