Be recognised in the national savewater! awards®
22 Jun 2012
The 2012 national savewater! awards® are now calling for entries to recognise efficient water use in the face of changing climate patterns and population growth.
The Government Award acknowledges achievement and a strong ongoing commitment by local authorities and state or federal government agency/departments in reducing its own or the community’s water use. This category also includes government-owned businesses.
The savewater! awards®, now in its tenth year, is Australia’s leading awards program in water sustainability. The awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in water conservation and efficiency by business, schools, government, local communities and individuals.
Last year’s winner, Tamworth Regional Council, is committed to conservation through its comprehensive and ongoing Water Sustainability Strategy. One such initiative is the Residential Water Saving Rebate Scheme. Since this scheme was introduced in 2007, Tamworth Regional Council has paid out $441,403.53 in financial assistance to residents for the installation of 3,211 water-saving devices, which are projected to save over 110 mega litres of water per annum. These water-saving devices include showerheads, dual-flush toilets, water-efficient washing machines, swimming pool covers and rainwater tanks.
Entries close at 5pm (AEST) on Friday 20 2012. More information about the Government Award and all other categories can be found on the savewater! awards®
