Griffith City Council is considering installing a mixer in our 9ML circular drinking water storage reservoir.
Is there any Local Water Utilities that is willing to share their experience with us on drinking water reservoir mixers?
Discussion points:
  • Effectiveness of mixing
  • Power consumption
  • Ease of maintenance
  • Maintenance requirements
  • Installation requirements
  • Cost
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jaco,
Tamworth Rgeiaonl Council has moved away from mechnical mixers and now use directional nozzles on the reservoir inlet pipe. We have installed these on 3 of our resevroirs - the biggest being 9 ML in capacity and have had good reuslts with mixing. Obviously there are no running costs.
If you would like further information please contact me and I can put you in touch with someone who can provide more detail.
Thanks

Bruce Logan

Euorbodalla also uses directional nozzles on some reservoirs to aid mixing (we dont have any mechanical mixers). We also reduce the operating level on some remote reservoirs during the winter months to increase turnover.
