Hi All, Upper Hunter Shire Council are looking into obtaining a license for water modelling software to complete hydraulic modelling of the water and sewer distribution networks. We currently have partial models built for both systems in Mike + (Formally
Mike Urban) by contractors, but the license for it is expensive and finding any training courses on how to use the software also seems difficult. Are there any other councils who hold modelling software licenses and if so who do you use and were you able to
find any associated training courses? Kind Regards, Tegan Annas Planning and Projects Engineer Upper Hunter Shire Council

Tegan, SW utilise Innovyze for our models, the are probably the premium so also very expensive but training can be provided by either Innovyze or Advance Water Solutions who are the software resale outlet. Matt Kidd Water Asset Planning

Hi Tegan, I am the Networks Engineer at MidCoast Council and work with modelling software for forward planning of Water and Sewer Assets. We currently use WaterGEMS and SewerCAD from Bentley for water and sewer respectively. I have been reviewing other modelling software DHI MIKE+ and Infoworks WS Pro and ICM to make a business case before next renewal. So I have got the technical and cost details for both and also for Bentley products if you are interested. I got a month of free trial for MIKE+ so I can share what I know and share resources and details for the support at DHI Australia. Please get in touch by sending an email at aadesh.baniya@midcoast.nsw.gov.au. Regards, Aadesh Baniya Networks Engineer MidCoast Council

Hi Tegan, Tamworth Regional Council used to have its own reticulation models and train staff in their operation, but we found that, with a Council of our size, we did not have the workload for modelling that allowed staff to maintain skills and knowledge
of the models so we started to doubt the accuracy of the results etc. We now use a consultant to do our modelling work. The consultant maintains our models (we own the licenses) on our behalf, we pay them an annual retainer and whenever we need something
modelled we contact them and pay for their staff to run the model and provide the results. This is working well for us, so may be something you would like to consider. Bruce Logan Director - Water and Waste Tamworth Regional Council.
