Hi Everyone,
Posting this to get an understanding on how other utilities manage water and sewer access charges for caravan park and Manufactured Housing Estate (MHE) type developments.
At MidCoast Council, MHEs are charged a single access charge on the bulk water meter that connects to the development, with the charge adjusted based on the size of meter. The rate is fixed despite the number of internal permanent or semi-permenant dwellings that are serviced in the development.
For sewer, a single access charge is levied, with a volumetric charge applied at a fixed rate based on a percentage of the water usage metered for the development.
If other utilities have alternate approaches to fees and charges for MHEs, we'd be very interested to hear from you.

Hi Patrick, Tweed Shire Council changed the way it calculates Water Access charges for non-residential prooperties in 2024-2025. At this stage, no such changes have been made to the way that Sewerage Access charges are calculated. I have emailed you an extract from Council's Revenue Policy that sets out how the Water and Sewerage Access charges are determined. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
