Healthy Catchments, Healthy Water
Managing land within drinking water catchments: a practical guide for NSW landholders
This booklet describes contaminants that can enter waterways and can present a risk to the health of the community. It describes the sources of the contaminants and how they can be controlled by landholders.
The booklet details a wide range of things to consider when managing land in a water catchment, including managing nutrients wisely, improving agricultural chemical use and maintaining onsite wastewater treatment systems eg septic tanks.
The checklists, details of additional resources and key contacts make this a very useful educational publication.
Healthy Catchments, Healthy Water was produced by Rous Water and is being distributed by the Water Directorate because the information is useful and relevant to all member councils.
