Promoting water industry careers
Posted by: Brendan Guiney on 14/11/2023
NSW DPE-Water and Local Government NSW have worked together to develop
water careers resources promoting opportunities in the water industry. They are
available for use free of charge for all NSW Local Water Utilities. Resources include animation,
fact sheets and fantastic video testimonials from water and wastewater
operators across regional NSW including; Parkes, Forbes, Eurobodalla and
Narromine, sharing what makes the water industry such a great place to work. You
may even see some familiar faces! These resources can be found here Water Career - Careers
at Council. If your council does not subscribe to Careers at Council, you
can also access them on the department’s website: Careers
in the water industry | Water (nsw.gov.au) along with a digital kit with
guidance on their use including templates, suggestions for newsletter articles
and social media posts.
A marketing campaign is active throughout October and
November across NSW with a focus on western NSW, promoting the exciting opportunities
that come with a career in water. The campaign is specifically aimed at
operational roles in regional NSW. So, if your organisation has vacant roles to
advertise, now is a great time to do it! Let your HR and media teams know about
these resources to make your job ads stand out from other industries and
promote what the water industry does to everyone from Councillors to customers.
An industry wide promotion, which complements the regional
NSW focus, has been developed by the Water Services Association of Australia and Australian Water Association, launched during water week. It
covers all roles in water from scientists and engineers to project managers and
laboratory technicians. Water
